Nigerian-American artist Mannywellz has released his new seven-track EP, Small Chops, via Vydia. Written and produced entirely by the singer himself, the project blends R&B and soul while exploring themes of love, vulnerability, and emotional connection. Named after the popular Nigerian appetizer assortment, the EP serves as a preview of his upcoming full-length album. Featuring fellow Nigerian artists Wale and Lekan, Small Chops arrives amid growing momentum, following the success of his “How It Feels” video and 2025 single “Holy Father.” 

British rapper M.I.A. has filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against fellow artist Kid Cudi, alleging that she was wrongfully removed from his “Rebel Ragers” tour as part of a publicity strategy to boost interest in shows that were reportedly struggling with ticket sales. The lawsuit, filed Friday in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, claims Kid Cudi, whose legal name is Scott Mescudi, falsely portrayed himself as a headliner forced to distance himself from M.I.A. after comments she made during tour performances sparked controversy among fans. According to the complaint, M.I.A., born Mathangi Arulpragasam, was contractually permitted to express her views on stage and did not violate the terms of her agreement. Her attorney, Howard King, argued that Kid Cudi was fully aware of her outspoken political views before inviting her on the tour. The lawsuit states that M.I.A.’s comments regarding immigration, Palestinian refugees, and other political issues were consistent with her public persona and prior public statements. The filing further alleges that Kid Cudi directed tour promoter Live Nation to terminate her participation, though the company is not named as a defendant. The legal action comes weeks after Kid Cudi announced during a Dallas concert that M.I.A. would no longer be part of the tour, citing remarks that had offended fans. M.I.A. is seeking $2.8 million in damages for the performances she says she was prevented from completing, along with additional punitive damages for alleged harm to her business opportunities and reputation. A representative for Kid Cudi had not publicly responded to the lawsuit as of Monday. 

U.S. Senator Rick Scott has called on the Tampa Sports Authority to reconsider its support of Ye’s upcoming June 26 and June 28 concerts at Raymond James Stadium, citing the artist’s history of antisemitic remarks. In a letter released Thursday, Scott argued that taxpayer-supported facilities should not subsidize events involving an artist he says has promoted hateful rhetoric. He pointed to Ye’s past praise of Nazis and other controversial statements, saying they are offensive to Florida’s large Jewish community. The concerts have generated mixed reactions among music fans. While some supporters are traveling from across the country to attend the shows, others have publicly rejected the events despite offers of free tickets. Ye has previously attempted to address the backlash surrounding his comments, publishing a full-page apology in The Wall Street Journal in which he attributed some of his behavior to bipolar disorder and injuries sustained in a past car accident. However, the controversy has continued to affect his career, with canceled performances and opposition from officials in several international markets.  Scott referenced those incidents in his appeal, arguing that public agencies should avoid providing financial support for events connected to figures accused of spreading antisemitism. The Tampa Sports Authority, which operates Raymond James Stadium, responded Thursday by acknowledging public concerns while emphasizing its obligation to uphold free speech principles. The statement noted that although the agency does not condone offensive or divisive remarks by performers, it remains committed to operating the venue as a public facility. The response contrasted with earlier comments from Tampa Sports Authority President and CEO Eric Hart, who had previously welcomed Ye’s concerts as part of a major summer and fall entertainment lineup.
