Jabari “Baba Skeng” Johnson, the 25-year-old son of Jamaican reggae artist Jah Mason, was shot and killed Monday while livestreaming on TikTok. The attack occurred outside Queenie’s Snack Shop on Red Hills Road in St. Andrew, near Kingston, as Johnson was speaking with another TikTok user. According to eyewitnesses and video footage, a gunman wearing a black hoodie and face mask approached from behind and shot Johnson in the back of the head before continuing to fire as he collapsed.

The killing marks the fourth execution-style murder of a Jamaican TikToker in recent months, according to the Jamaican Observer. Other victims include Marlon Samuels, who was shot in Montego Bay on December 20, 2024; Xavier “Niah Gang” Fogah, 23, gunned down in St. Catherine on December 7; and Keauno “Popsy” Watson, also 23, who was killed in September. Authorities believe the attacks may be linked to rival gang activity involving popular TikTok personalities.

The St. Andrew North Police are investigating the incident but have yet to make any arrests. Some fans speculate the violence stems from disputes between social media influencers connected to street gangs. Despite this recent surge in targeted killings, the overall murder rate among Jamaicans aged 15 to 24 in Kingston has declined—from 17 percent in 2024 to 10 percent so far in 2025.
