Case and Carl Thomas to Face Off in VERZUZ R&B Battle on Apple Music

R&B singers Case and Carl Thomas are bringing their catalogs of love songs, heartbreak anthems and slow jams to the latest installment of VERZUZ. The two artists will go head-to-head Thursday, Oct. 22, at 6 p.m. PDT, with the battle streaming live on Apple Music and available for replay afterward. Announced through Complex’s Instagram account, the matchup celebrates two voices whose music helped shape the R&B landscape of the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Case rose to prominence with “Touch Me, Tease Me,” featuring Foxy Brown and Mary J. Blige, which appeared on the soundtrack to the 1996 film The Nutty Professor. He continued building his catalog with romantic favorites such as “Happily Ever After,” from his 1999 album Personal Conversation, and “Missing You,” from 2001’s Open Letter. His collaboration with Joe, “Faded Pictures,” also became a memorable entry in his collection of R&B hits.
Thomas established himself through Bad Boy Records with his platinum-selling 2000 debut album, Emotional. The project featured signature songs including “I Wish,” a reflective track about loss and regret, “Summer Rain,” and the album’s title track, showcasing his expressive vocal style. Fans can prepare for the showdown with Apple Music’s VERZUZ Cheat Sheet playlist, which features music from both artists. The battle offers listeners an opportunity to revisit the songs and emotional storytelling that made Case and Thomas enduring names in contemporary R&B.
