Tamar Braxton is stepping into the world of psychological horror with her latest acting role in Stepfather, a new thriller streaming on Tubi. Directed by Chris Stokes, the film stars Braxton as Asia, a single mother who believes she has found a second chance at love, only to discover her new husband may be hiding a dangerous and disturbing secret. Taye Diggs leads the cast as Darnell, a man determined to create the perfect family at any cost.
Written by Chris Stokes and Marques Houston and produced by Footage Films Studios, Stepfather explores themes of trust, obsession, and the dangers of appearances. The story follows Asia as she begins questioning whether the man she married is truly who he claims to be, forcing her and her daughters to confront a terrifying reality. As suspicion grows inside the home, the family must find a way to escape before his dark intentions lead to deadly consequences.
The thriller features a supporting cast that includes Kalani Jules, Jessica Jarrell, Janeline Hayes, Dante Brown, Troy Brookins, TJ Shaw, Koda Kalani Beschen, and Elizabeth Dantus. The film marks another step in Braxton’s expanding entertainment career, as the Grammy-nominated singer continues balancing music, acting, and television appearances.
While discussing Stepfather on Today with Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones, Braxton opened up about playing a woman searching for love while facing an unexpected nightmare.
