Ciara Defends Russell Wilson Against “Corny” Label, Calls QB Her “Most Amazing” and “God-Fearing” Man

Ciara is shutting down critics who label her husband, NFL quarterback Russell Wilson, as “corny.” During an appearance on The Breakfast Club, the Grammy-winning singer was asked by co-host Charlamagne tha God why she thinks people use the term to describe Wilson. Ciara brushed off the criticism, saying she doesn’t feel the need to respond. “I know what I know, and that’s all that matters,” she said, praising Wilson as “the most amazing human being you can know.”
The singer went on to highlight her husband’s intelligence and authenticity, calling him “the smartest, most intelligent Black man that I have ever known.” Charlamagne also pointed out that Wilson is sometimes called a “simp,” a term used to mock men who are seen as overly devoted to their partners. Ciara quickly dismissed the label, suggesting it depends on “who’s the man saying it” and emphasizing that she values Wilson’s genuine character over public perception.
In a separate interview with Ryan Cameron of Ryan Cameron Uncensored, Ciara further praised Wilson while promoting her new album CiCi. The mother of four revealed that her husband’s deep Christian faith is one of the qualities she finds most attractive. “From day one, I actually prayed for a God-fearing man and he was that,” she said. “I love how he can bust out the Word and educate me.” For Ciara, Wilson’s faith, intelligence, and authenticity are what make him the perfect partner—regardless of outside opinions.
